Tosca Musk Honored With Visionary Award

Honoring a community of single moms business leaders, owners, entrepreneurs & supporters.

Acclaimed film and television producer Tosca Musk was honored as Single Mom Planet’s Visionary Single Mom of the Year Award at on Friday, June 21, 2019 at London West Hollywood, 1020 N. San Vicente Blvd, West Hollywood, CA 90069.

“We are pleased to honor Tosca Musk and her exemplary work as a mother, nurturer, entertainment industry professional and business leader,” said Neferteri Plessy founder and CEO of Single Moms Planet. “She is an outstanding mother who is dedicated to her children, her family, her profession and community with a care and vision that enhances all of those around her. Hosted by noted fashion designer Pia Gladys Perey, the event is presented by Single Moms Planet, a non-profit organization created to assist struggling single mothers, the Visionary Single Mom of the Year Award honors notable individuals who inspire, provide an example or give support to single mothers through their work, philanthropy or volunteerism. Proceeds from the event will go toward the Single Moms Planet Financial Literacy Program aimed at assisting single mothers to better manage their finances.

 

 “I am honored to be recognized by Single Moms Planet and to have the opportunity to share my story and inspire others through this event,” Musk said.

 Tosca Musk is a multi-award-winning filmmaker known for her directing, producing, writing, and executive producing of feature films and leading-edge content. In 2017, Musk co-founded Passionflix, the premium streaming platform that produces and distributes empowering and passionate movies, specifically focused on the romance genre.

Recently featured in WWD and TechCrunch, Tosca Musk launched her career at Alliance-Atlantis, Canada’s largest producer and distributor of feature films, becoming the Director of Development at Sela Ward’s Magnolia Films. She then moved into production, as Los Angeles Segment Producer for TV Guide Television, and subsequently stepped into her debut directing role with the feature film Puzzled. This marked the beginning of over 30 feature films, television movies, and new media content.

 

Her television movie, HOLIDAY ENGAGEMENT, provided Hallmark Channel with it’s highest-rated Sunday night movie in the network’s history, and her family feature, SIMPLE THINGS, garnered nine awards, including three “Best Picture” Awards and an “Audience” Award. Musk produced the web series, Tiki Bar TV, which was used by Steve Jobs to promote the iPod with Video in his 2005 Keynote speech and held the ranking of #1 downloaded video on iTunes for over 3 months. It is still considered to be a pioneer of web series.

As CEO at Passionflix, Musk spearheaded the company through the tech launch and studio negotiations, while directing five of the Passionflix Original features, THE PROTECTOR, DRIVEN, THE MATCHMAKER’S PLAYBOOK, AFTERBURN AFTERSHOCK and HOLLYWOOD DIRT, all based on novels by best-selling romance authors. She is currently in production of A BROTHER’S HONOR, based on the novel by Brenda Jackson, which will release this September on Passionflix.

A mother of six-year-old twins, Tosca, like her mother, Maye Musk, is a passionate advocate for women’s empowerment. Tosca actively supports the BIG Green, founded by her brother Kimbal Musk, the ongoing work of her brother Elon Musk, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and sits on the Board of Swan Within, a non-profit empowering incarcerated girls through the power of ballet.

Single Moms Planet was established in 2013 to assist struggling single mothers through a variety of programs such as job training, parenting classes, housing assistance, counseling, childcare assistance, medical referrals, special events and more.
